How to choose Nude lipsticks for Indian skin tones!

As I stated in my last blog, Nude Makeup Lookbook that nude is definitely the shade that’s here to stay.  The year 2019 is all about wearing your attitude and rocking your confidence in style. On the one hand, all the big beauty moguls are coming up with the crazy and neon shades in the eyeshadows range for your eyes; however, the preferable look for the lips stays “Nude lips” only.

Well honestly that’s how it should be, if you want to flaunt the bold look on the eyes, you gotta keep the focus on the eyes only. That’s why everybody is rocking the nude lips with funky reds, blues and neons! Sounds simple right, but it’s not that simple ladies. Choosing the right nude colour lipstick is as tricky as choosing the right skin tone foundation.

As colours are made of different shades in the same way, lipsticks are made of different shades and undertones apart from the chemicals, well we aren’t talking about that today though! A lot of brands are coming up the nude lip colours, and Indian celebrities like Kareena or Alia are definitely nailing the lip colours in the advertisements. I mean at least these brands are now thinking about the Indian beauties. I am happy about that, but then, there comes the skin undertones difference in her and a lot of us. Despite being an Indian, the lipstick that looks bomb on Kareena washes out my face. But as I say, every skin tone is beautiful and different.

To understand better, here is your guide for choosing the perfect nude according to your skin tone!

People with fair skin tone looks beautiful in the nudes with a pink undertone. As a brown undertone nudes will give a darker lip colour, and it makes the lipstick appear darker than needed. Which apparently will make your lip shade darker instead of the nude you thriving for. Pink undertone nudes will mix beautifully with your natural lip colour giving you the pouty nude you want. Below are some of the nude lip colours that you can rock!

Lakme 9 to 5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip & Cheek Color – Blush Velvet

Nykaa MATTE-ilicious Crayon Lipstick Lacy Luck – 10

Faces Ultime Pro Longwear Matte Lipstick – Ultime-Lust-On

Mostly Indian skin tone is beautifully made with the warmer undertones, which is why we tend to fall under the “Medium or Olive skin tone” category worldwide. Nudes with yellow or orange undertone suit best for the olive & medium skin tone. As the yellow and orange would cut down the little unevenness and darkness of the lips that most of us “the Indians” deal with. It will neutralise the darker pigmentation of the lips and will give you a gorgeous nude look that you looking for.  Some of the reasonable picks for medium & olive skin tone are mentioned below.

M.A.C Matte Lipstick – Mehr

Maybelline New York Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lipstick – Barely Nude

Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipstick – Trendsetter

The rule for my hawt and sexy dusky girls is to go darker with your lip colour. Nudes with red undertones work deliciously for coloured skinned girls. Chocolate brown nudes look sexy and give the oomph that you are looking for your nude lips. Just be sure not go with lighter shade as it will wash out your face. Below are some of the suggestion.

Nykaa So Matte Lipstick – Hot Shot Espresso 19 M

Lakme Absolute Argan Oil Lip Color – Buttery Caramel

Huda Beauty Demi Matte Cream Lipstick – Day Slayer

Tips for rocking your nude lips!

  • To rock a nude lip always make sure your lips are super moisturised. As these lipstick shades rely on natural hues of your skin colour.
  • For Indian skin tones, the nude lipsticks tend to wash out the face if not applied with a proper base.
  • You can apply concealer under your lipstick to pop out your nude. If you don’t want to conceal your lips directly, then prime your lips before applying concealer.
  • You can always wear the natural matte look with the nude, however by adding some lip gloss you can rock the nudes like a diva.
  • Nude lips compliment smokey eyes the best. Bold eyes and subtle lips never go out of fashion.

Remember whatever lip colour you wear, never forget to give the sexy pout!

Maybelline FitMe Liquid Foundation Review #FitMeAsIam

Alrighty! Alrighty! I raise my hand in the air and accept that I am guilty as charged for committing the crime of wearing the wrong shade of foundation! For a long time man! Way too long! Either it’s too dark, too light, or it used to get greyed out or just fade out!

Don’t act its only me ladies, we all have done this same mistake, especially us “The Indian beauties”. We are so diverse with our beautiful colour complexions, skin tones, undertones. But the bigger brands never understood the diversity of our skin tones. However, I am glad that now in 2019 Indian women are also getting the chance to enjoy the foundation that is matched not mismatched!

At least finally somebody on this earth understood the pain of mismatched foundation for us at a reasonable price for sure! Yes, I am talking about Maybelline’s FitMe Matte & Poreless Liquid Foundation. I know ladies we don’t get time every day to do full face glam, just like Kardashian’s do! I mean c’ mon how can someone has such lavish life man! I mean I love them but I don’t know for what reasons. Anyway, back to reality we don’t have that much time every day in the morning. But we love the extra glow, don’t we ladies!

The lightweight formula of Maybelline FitMe liquid foundation makes sure that you wear it like a queen in the morning and just go with your day like a boss. It’s a water based foundation with sheer buildable consistency. I love how it just blends in the skin and gives good coverage.

Why it’s a perfect match :

  • Maybelline has come up with 40 shades of liquid foundation for the women of all the colours around the world.
  • It’s lightweight.
  • Buildable coverage
  • Works for all the skin types.
  • Controls oil and gives a matte finish for good 6-7 hours.
  • Covers blemishes and skin unevenness.
  • Comes at affordable price.

I have taken up the Maybelline #FitMeAsIam #FitMeHalfFaceChallenge to show how it fits me as I am.

To show how the foundation works on my skin, I have done a half face challenge in which you can see I have just applied the foundation. No other product. To find your perfect match of the foundation all you need is, to swatch the foundation from your cheek to the neck. As due to our undertones the skin on the face looks different from the skin of your body.

The skin on your neck will help you in finding your shade perfectly. As I have a combination skin tone, the skin on my cheeks gives an illusion of a cool undertone. However, as most of us in India, I fall under the warm undertone category. The shade Classic Ivory 120  from Maybelline fits me perfect. It gets me an instant glow I am looking forward to without changing my skin colour.

It’s a user and pocket-friendly both. So grab your shade today and say #FitMeAsIam!

How to achieve even skin tone using colour correctors!

Being a makeup artist first thing people always ask is “What should I use to get rid of acne marks?” “How do I get an even skin tone?” “How to get rid of acne? For that matter. Well, I’ll be as honest and blunt as I can, and I don’t want to make any false promises or give wrong information out there.

Okay! So in eleven months of fashion and media course from Pearl Academy, we learnt a lot about skin, hair and makeup. But in any beauty or makeup school, you will not learn how to treat some skin problems. They will teach you about skin, for example, the types of surfaces, the kind of skin diseases, colour theories to cover up those marks with the help of makeup. But definitely not the treatments.

For that, some people invest their time and money in studying and get their Doctor’s degree in the skin speciality, and they are called “Dermatologists”. Just like somebody gets a heart attack, they go to a cardiologist not to some heartbreak healer to treat their heart issues, or if somebody gets a bone dislocated you don’t visit a gym trainer, you go to an orthopaedic. As a gym trainer can tell you a lot about bone structures but definitely can not do a fracture treatment. Similarly, the skin is the largest organ of our body. When you got issues with that, you need a dermatologist to treat that not a makeup artist. As everybody is different, so as the eating habits and skin issues.

I know my example skills literally sucks sometimes, but that’s what I mean to say, a beauty influencer or some makeup artist cant treat that acne issues or skin diseases for you. You need an expert to handle it. But yes, one thing we can definitely do is to let you know how to or what to use to hide your skin concerns.

I can’t fix your skin issues permanently, but I can definitely let you know what you can do to hide your imperfections with the help of makeup temporarily. So let’s get started with understanding the importance of colour correction in our makeup routine.

Colour corrector for ACNE: GREEN

As you can see in the above colour wheel green is the colour that has been mentioned as a complementary colour against red.

A green colour concealer will cut down the redness of the acne scars and the redness of the irritated skin. After moisturising the surface and applying the primer, use the green colour corrector on the desired areas followed by applying your foundation on top of it. Green colour will neutralise the redness of the skin, the acne scars as well as the blemishes too.

Colour corrector for Dark Circles and uneven skin tone: ORANGE

The under eye skin is generally more sensitive and thin other than our rest of the surface of our face. Hence, you would be able to figure out that it appears slightly blue in colour. Blue being the primary colour in the colour wheel, you would notice orange is the complementary colour on the colour wheel.

By applying orange colour concealer, it will cut down the blue tone of the dark circles, brightening the under eyes area. You can use an orange colour concealer to neutralise the dark pigmentation around your mouth and on the uneven skin tone on the T-zones of your face, followed by your foundation on top of it.

Colour corrector for the yellowness of the active acne and puffiness: PURPLE/LAVENDER

Though I would never suggest anybody to apply makeup on their skin if they are dealing with active acne as it will worsen the situation. However, if you are in a position where you can’t avoid it, then the Purple/Lavender is your colour.

Yellow being the primary colour, purple/lavender will neutralise the yellowness and the swollen skin here. Followed by applying your foundation on top of it.

Makeup is an art that you do on your face, a walking talking canvas for that matter. Just like an artist know his/her colour theories while painting, in the same way understanding the colour theory is essential for your makeup too. However, understanding your skin is equally important.

If you are going through any skin issues like acne, uneven pigmentation, the irritating redness then visit a dermatologist and get proper treatment. As I always say, every skin is different, everything reacts differently on different people.

Makeup is to enhance your features, not to give you a new face! And NOBODY is PERFECT!

Nude Makeup Lookbook

Nude lips, nude makeup, nude colour dress, or basically being nude is my favourite thing. Haha. Don’t be naughty in your thoughts, guys. But being honest, this shade has some charm that everybody is going crazy for it. It is chic, it is classy, it is hot!

So today I am gonna talk about the nude makeup look which I created for my beautiful model Shivi. She has gorgeous eyes which I kept subtle by using Makeup Revolution Flawless 4 eyeshadow pallet.

I’ve been using Makeup Revolution product since a long now. Won’t say this is the best eyeshadow pallet that I have used but would definitely say for the price its worth it. For day to day makeup I would recommend this pallet as the formula is quite lovely and pigmentation is excellent for the nude shades.

I wanted to create a very subtle and everyday look, so I kept the eyeliner soft and didn’t make it bold. Eyeliner shapes the eyes and makes them look more lifted depending upon the intensity of the wing that you created while applying your eyeliner. You can always make your wing as high as you wish. I’ve used Kiko Milano Lasting Gel Eyeliner using an angular brush as it gives the perfect eyeliner shape. It’s very intense dark gel eyeliner and the trick to keeping your gel eyeliners away from drying while using them is to keep the pan opposite so that the gel eyeliner doesn’t get dried up as you can’t just open and close the lid again and again while applying that eyeliner. I’ve used false eyelashes by P.A.C which only costs INR 150-200 and would say they are quite reasonable.

Now coming to the base, I have kept it very simple and fewer products. I used PAC Ultra Studio HD Palette mixing two shades to achieve the glowing skin tone that I wanted for my model. This palette comes with an orange corrector and two darker shades that you can use as your base if it matches your skin tone or you can use them as contouring if your skin tone is lighter. In both the ways it works wonders as the consistency and coverage of the product are really good. I’ve been using it a lot in shoots and daily basis.

For this look, I really did not do much of contouring; instead, I used a bronzer on the cheeks to give that natural structure to facial features. I’ve been using Makeup Revolution Bronzer as it provides a very subtle and natural effect on the cheeks without making you look like muddy and very fake contour.

Finally, I completed the makeup look by using Faces Ultime Pro Liquid Matte Lipstick in the shade Nude Truffle. This shade is perfect for the nude lips that I love. This was the shade that I used in this look. However, I’ll be writing a whole new blog on “Nude lipsticks” that I just can’t live without and every girl must have in her makeup kit. Because nude will never go out of fashion.

Now finally I completed the whole look by using hair waver, a triple barrel hair waver curling tong which gives you the natural curls you want for your look. I personally use hair waver a lot on my short hair. It’s easy and gives that sexy curly hair look, that I love.

By just adding some chunky jewellery and funky shades, I completed my whole look. So this was my “Nude makeup look” which I created on my beautiful friend and model Shivi. And yeah, the matching top and palazzo that she is rocking here were bought by me from

Lemme know what you think about this lookbook in the comments below. Till then be sassy and be nude! haha
